Are you worried about an older loved one’s ability to drive, get food, get medicine or more… You are not alone!  Please share the 'Good News' and invite others to help seniors have access to what they want and need!

Mobility for seniors takes many forms - a sidewalk, crosswalk, driver safety program, better roads, public transit, volunteer driver programs, no steps, help with packages and more. To have mobility for seniors, we simply need to see the barriers to their movement and find a better way…

THE GOODCENTS MISSION: Mobility for seniors through community-based sustainable solutions.

From the Executive Director: This month I had the honor and privilege to speak to a group of sight impaired seniors.  I was humbled by their understanding of what mobility is and means. I listened as they shared stories of what it means to be able to move about their communities.  What it means for high school students to do the shopping while another stayed to help the senior.  The stories told why living was better in communities that support senior mobility.  Thank you, to our partners in Shawnee, Merriam and Johnson County, KS. – ‘good work!’

The Mr. Goodcents Foundation needs your help to save a great service.  The JOCO (KS) Sight Impaired Forum needs $7,500 for 2010 and another $10,000 in 2011 to sustain transportation for sight impaired senior meetings which happen three times a month.  At these meetings, the seniors receive social interaction and great programs on living with sight impairment.  These meetings are important.  Will you help?  Please visit www.mrgoodcentsfoundation.com and click 'You can help'

Building a future with Good Sr. Mobility!

You probably know a senior with mobility challenges or restrictions.  We know communities lack sufficient capacity to meet the senior mobility needs of today.  We can easily project the future will require even more mobility capacity as the number of seniors move from 1 in 10 to 1 in 5 Americans in the next 20 to 25 years.  We must unlock the power of communities to create community-based sustainable senior mobility.

The 'Goodcents Keys' to help unleash the power of communities provides a guide to discovering what services exist; what needs exist; and what is possible.  Our ‘keys’ focus on greater senior mobility capacity, improved public policy, better land use, better community design and codes that improve senior mobility.

Building a future with ‘good senior mobility’ is a journey for everyone – what will we need in 5, 10, 20, 30 years?
